Stamped Design Double Ball Raceway Swivel Casters
The majority of light to medium duty casters have a stamped design double ball raceway construction, and vary in design and weight capacities. What is meant by a “stamped design” is the majority of the metal construction of the caster (leg base including the mid-section or base of the raceway) is stamped out and formed from one piece of metal. The other portions of the raceways including the bearings, are added into the base unit, the fastener type (top plate or stem) incorporated with the kinpin is then riveted through the raceways (containing the ball bearings), which holds all the parts together, making a stamped caster yoke. Once a wheel is assembled into the caster yoke and secured with an axle, the unit becomes a caster.
The capacities of the various stamped casters are determined by the size & design of each caster series along with the correlating wheels used in them. The capacity of each caster is determined by the part of the caster that has the lowest weight capacity: if the caster yoke is rated at 300 lbs but the wheel is rated at 250 lbs, it is then a 250 lb caster. Matching rigid casters are usually available for most swivel casters, however there are some smaller swivel casters series and stem caster series that do not have matching rigid casters. Stamped design double ball raceway stainless steel & total lock casters are also available.
Common fastener types for light to medium duty stamped casters are: top plates, threaded stems, round stems, octagon stems, square stems, expandable adapter stems, grip ring stems & hollow kingpins with interchangeable uncommon stems. We also manufacture adjustable height leg casters, and many standard casters with custom top plates or stems to meet our customer’s needs. If you don’t see what you are looking for in our catalog, please inquire, we can custom make a caster or wheel to meet your unique application.
